Recommendations of the AMP Steering Committee

The recommendations of the AMP Steering Committee, working within the framework of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), were issued on July 17, 2012. The Committee's Report to the President on Capturing Domestic Competitive Advantage in Advanced Manufacturing has been endorsed by PCAST, which is led by John P. Holdren, science and technology advisor to the President and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and Eric Lander, President of the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT.

The report's 16 recommendations are aimed at manufacturing in a way that ensures U.S. competitiveness, feeds into the nation's innovation economy, creates high-quality jobs, and invigorates the domestic manufacturing base.

In conjunction with the report's release, the White House issued a fact sheet detailing the Administration's advanced manufacturing initiatives, including the President's March 2012 announcement of his $1 billion proposal for a National Network for Manufacturing Innovation to catalyze up to 15 manufacturing institutes nationwide, a concept endorsed by the AMP Steering Committee.
