Build America Buy America

The Build America Buy America Act, enacted as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act on November 15, 2021, established a domestic content procurement preference for all Federal financial assistance obligated for infrastructure projects after May 14, 2022.  The domestic content procurement preference requires that all iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials used in covered infrastructure projects are produced in the United States.

President Joe Biden proclaimed tomorrow, Oct. 4, 2024, National Manufacturing Day. “I thank our manufacturing workers for all that they do to strengthen our Nation, encourage all Americans to look for ways to get involved in their communities, and call on everyone to join me in participating in National Manufacturing Day and, most importantly, buying American.”

Biden-Harris Administration Takes Major Step to Boost Domestic Manufacturing in Transportation, Create Good-Paying American Jobs

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration announced a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking today to discontinue its general waiver of Buy America requirements for manufactured products used in federal-aid highway projects. In the rulemaking, the agency proposes discontinuing the waiver and creating standards that would apply to manufactured products if the waiver is discontinued.

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo Announces Onshoring of Broadband Electronics Equipment

Vice President Kamala Harris and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo traveled to Kenosha, WI, to celebrate the announcement of new electronics equipment production in the U.S. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law requires the use of Made-in-America materials and products for federally funded infrastructure projects, including high-speed Internet service deployment under the Administration’s “Internet for All” initiative.
