Biden Administration Releases Implementation Strategy for $50 Billion CHIPS for America program

The U.S. Department of Commerce released its strategy outlining how the Department will implement $50 billion from the bipartisan CHIPS Act of 2022, signed by President Biden last month. The CHIPS for America program, housed within the Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), will revitalize the domestic semiconductor industry and spur innovation while creating good-paying jobs in communities across the country.

Calling for Nominations for DOE’s Industrial Technology Innovation Advisory Committee

U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm is currently requesting nominations for the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Industrial Technology Innovation Advisory Committee . The new federal advisory committee will be charged with identifying and evaluating technologies to reduce industrial emissions while improving the competitiveness of American industry. Nominations for the committee are due by August 1, 2022.

NIST Awards Funding to Strengthen Advanced Manufacturing for Critical and Emerging Technologies

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has awarded a total of $2.08 million to seven organizations in six states to develop manufacturing technology roadmaps to strengthen U.S. innovation and productivity across entire industry sectors. This is the second round of grants awarded to universities, industry and nonprofit organizations through NIST’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Roadmap Program (MfgTech).
